What is an X-House escape room?
What is the goal of an escape room?
Participants are locked in a themed room and they have a limited time to find their way out. In essence, escape rooms provide an immersive experience that requires you to find clues, solve puzzles and work as a team to complete the challenge before the time runs out. Educational, cognitive, and fun learning experiences; escape rooms provide a gaming experience like no other. They are the perfect option for Team buildings, School Activities, Birthday Parties, and any other celebration.
Will I actually be “locked” in the escape room?
You will be in a room with a locked door. However, you can leave at any time you wish by signalling the game master to stop the game and let you out immediately. But we strongly recommend that you do not get out, unless it is urgent or there is a compelling reason to do so. No refunds will be given in this case and multiple ins & outs are not permitted!
What if I need to go to the restroom during the game?
You can go to the restroom at any time. However, the game time will not be paused for the duration of your toilet break and your team will have to carry on without you in the meantime. If you’re accompanied by kids, we recommend taking them to the bathroom before the game starts.
How early should we arrive before the game starts?
Your entire team should arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked time. Before each game, there will be a brief session to get you all well informed, pumped up and ready for the challenge. Arriving late means that time will be deducted from your allocated booking time, as a courtesy to the next team in line. We also encourage you to hang around after your game to discuss how it went and take some (hopefully post-victory) photos.
What if we show up late to our scheduled time?
Games will generally take 60-75 minutes maximum depending on the room booked, and the next guests will be booked in straight after, so unfortunately if you are late, it will take valuable minutes off your game time…minutes that could cost your success! And you’ll need all the time you can get for escaping! Please note that refunds or last minute cancellations will not be accepted in such circumstance, therefore, we advise you to arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked time and get directions here in advance. How do I book a game?
Can I change the date or time of the game after I booked it in the system?
How many people can I play with?
Is there an age limit?
Here at XHouse we have something for almost everyone! It ultimately depends on the game chosen. Some of our Xcape rooms require Players to be at least 16 years old to play, due to the complexity of the content and the elements of surprise, while other rooms allow players to be as young as 11 years of age. Nonetheless, kids between ages 8-10 are welcomed to play The Pirate’s Curse and Wizard’s House if they are accompanied by a responsible adult who can guide them and supervise them. We do not accommodate children under 8 years old in the escape room. After all, Escape Games are generally considered a sort of entertainment for young adults and older.
Is the game scary?
What happens if we get stuck with any of the puzzles or mysteries during the game?
Before entering the room, you will meet with your game master who will explain how you can ask for hints when you need them. However, make sure to keep track of how many hints you ask for because we do have a limit to how many hints you are allowed to get and you do lose points on the score board with every hint you ask for. Don’t hesitate to ask for hints when you are stuck, frustrated, or running out of time.
Do you offer gift voucher?
What should I wear?
The best way to go is in comfortable clothes and sports shoes. Please note that wearing High heels and sharp accessories will not be allowed into the game room. Remember you are coming to get loose and have fun!
Where can I keep my personal belongings and valuables during the game?
The reception area has lockers to store your personal belongings or valuable items. You will be the owner of that locker and hold its key until the game ends.
Are there any Rules or Restrictions that I need to know before playing?
Can I take photos or videos in the game room?
Phones, cameras, and any other photo/recording devices are strictly prohibited in the game rooms. Kindly ensure That they are left in the lockers that are located in the reception area to avoid game interruption and/or ending the game entirely.
Can someone with claustrophobia play?
Can a pregnant woman play?
Our rooms are not recommended for pregnant women.
Can I bring food or drinks into the game?
Food and drinks are not allowed into the game room. You may leave them in your locker before entering the game room.
Which Game do you recommend to start with?
For the best experience, we recommend starting with the easy games and work your way up to the difficult games, the difficulty level for each game can be found on the information page of each game. For more information on that, you can call us and let us help you make the right choice.
Do you have any tips/advise for playing escape room games?
Work as a team. Split up and search for clues. Keep track of all the clues you find because you may need to use that clue later on during the game. Communicate and collaborate. Swap places if you’re stuck with a puzzle… different people have different mindsets and each is good at something. Keep the clues together in one place, in case you need to revisit them. But remember where you found it because that may be a clue itslef. Put the used clues away if you’ve already used them as they won’t be needed again in the game.
